  • Mother's Day Afternoon Tea

    On Monday, Pippin Class hosted a Mother's Day afternoon tea for their families. The children shared poems, sang songs and enjoyed delicious scones and cakes with the special ladies in their lives.

  • Into the Unknown...

    It has been wonderful to have the sunshine out this week, the children have enjoyed using the field during lunch times and within their lessons.

    Bramley Class have started to plan and write their own portal stories, taking inspiration from Alice in Wonderland and The Journey by Aaron Becker.

  • Working as a Stonemason

    Our Careers Week came to an end with two more brilliant visitors coming to the school to talk to the children about their careers. A big thank you to Mr. Mullins for coming in and explaining all about his role working for a historic building conservation company. He shared how he trained as a stonemason and conservator. The children loved looking at the different stone types, architectural carvings, masonry tools, drawings and photos. They even had the chance to try their hand at their own carvings using clay and tools.

  • Life in the Royal Navy

    What a brilliant start we had on Monday to begin our Careers Week! The children heard from Commander Chris Hollingworth, OBE about his life and career in the Royal Navy. The children learnt that every sailor is also a trained firefighter and that they receive training in flood response and first aid.

    We also heard about the Royal Navy’s work with the National Crime Agency and how every medal awarded tells a story of the experiences gained. The children had the opportunity to look at photographs from around the world and ask a wide range of interesting questions.

  • Visit to Bristol Aquarium

    To start our new learning experience, Into the Deep, Pippin Class visited Bristol Aquarium. The children were able to have a guided tour from one of the marine biologists who shared a huge range of information with us, about the various fish and sea creatures they have.

  • Author Visit - Lucy Noguera

    The children loved their virtual author visit from Lucy Noguera, where they heard all about the inspiration behind the characters in SWOP. Thank you to Ms Noguera for talking to the children in such an interesting and engaging manner.

  • Fencing Enrichment

    This week, the whole school took part in a morning of fencing. They learnt all about the different equipment that is used in fencing and the technical names, before progressing to learning the various positions including En Guard. The children loved demonstrating their newfound skills.

  • Fabulous Fieldwork

    Published 05/02/25

    Pippin Class went on a local fieldwork trip to Castle Cary Park. We travelled via mini-bus thinking about the route we'd planned and what we'd see on our way to the park. Whilst we were there, we looked at the physical and human features within the park and read maps using compasses to find our way around. It was great fun!

  • Tag Rugby Tournament

    On the 22nd January, Years Five and Six competed in a tag rugby tournament at Ansford Academy. First, our team played against Castle Cary, with a try being scored by Evan, a Year Six pupil. Great effort was seen from everyone, although this match ended up with us losing.

  • Shang Dynasty Drama Workshop

    During their Hook Day the children learnt all about Fu Hao (also known as Lady Hao) who was a wife of King Wu Ding. She was also a military general and a high priestess. Wu Ding actually had 64 wives but FU Hao became the second most powerful.

  • Superhumans!

    Pippin Class had two very special visitors today, Sam and Ted. With the help of Sam's very accident-prone Ted, the children learnt about cuts and grazes, head bumps and that poorly people need to be placed on their side and of course how to call 999, but only if needed.

    It was a FANTASTIC day, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot.

    Sam said "I can hand on heart say I had the loveliest session at Lovington Primary, the children were beautifully behaved and I'm so impressed with how well they picked up everything taught.

  • Christmas Parties

    What a busy and brilliant end to the term we have had! On Wednesday, the children really enjoyed their Christmas party day, with traditional party games, alongside a special visit from Father Christmas.
