Our ethos at Lovington Church of England Primary School is 'To be the best we can be - if we are going to do something, we will do it well and to the very best of our ability.' To be the best we can be socially, academically and knowing that we always try our very best. We strive to develop life-long learners who have a strong desire to be kind, who not only value kindness but where it becomes part of our daily lives.
We aim to develop a love of learning in all our children, which we hope will last throughout their lives. We do this by setting the highest standards for teaching and learning, through an engaging, well-constructed and ‘hands-on’ creative curriculum that is taught well, ensuring that every child is cared for, catered for and valued. All alongside promoting a true understanding of how our Christian faith and values are interwoven through our everyday activities.
Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the church at parish and diocesan level. The school aims to serve the community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers all pupils.
Our vision is for all our children to leave us as happy, kind, thoughtful and confident independent individuals with a positive Christian outlook on life and with the resilience to take on their next challenge. A big part of our vision is that if we are going to do something, we will do it well and to the very best of our ability.
Childhood is a very special time and we are fully committed to encouraging all children to love learning and aspire to excellence and enjoyment. Lovington Church of England Primary School is committed to nurturing the whole child, by developing their skills, knowledge, attitudes and spirituality. We believe this is achieved through providing a range of opportunities in a secure, stimulating and purposeful environment where children find learning enjoyable.
We teach our children ‘To be the best they can be’ working collectively as a team to achieve this.
The man represents God and the seed is his message.
Like ‘The Sower’, we represent a cohesive team which is totally focussed on growing the children’s happiness, well-being and education.
The cultivated soil provides the conditions for lifelong learning through nurturing all abilities, enabling all pupils to fulfil their potential.
The seeds are diverse, recognising we are all individual creations. We welcome families of all faiths and none, celebrate diversity, and all individuals are valued.
The seeds are sown widely, providing room for all to flourish. We nurture lifelong learning and actively encourage this within the community and beyond.
We care passionately about our environment, protecting God’s creation and all the decisions we make are made with that in mind.
Values are expressions of worth that help give meaning to the way we live ~ as individuals or as an organisation.
Our school has 8 Christian Core Values:
Kindness and Respect
Courage and Resilience
Gratitude
Hope
Trust
Peace
As a school we focus on each one of our value statements for a term.
We look at our Values in Collective Worship and in the curriculum. Examples of the children’s understanding of our Values are displayed around the school showing what our values look like in action and as reminders for all.
To embed these values further and allow opportunities for the children and staff to demonstrate these values in their everyday practice, the children are regularly encouraged to consider the importance of each value, thinking about their true meaning and their purpose. The values are discussed in class reflection times, R.E. lessons, Collective Worship and during individual reflection time, as well as being a daily part of reflection and discussion times. The children and staff are encouraged to show and demonstrate our values throughout each day.
