Pupil Premium was introduced by the Government in 2012 and provides additional funding on top of the main funding a school receives. It provides additional funding to 'close the gap' between children who are vulnerable to underachievement and other children in the school.
At Lovington Primary School, we are committed to closing the gap of deprivation between disadvantaged children and other children. The expenditure of Pupil Premium Grant funding is established within the school and is used on a personalised basis to meet the needs of individuals; where children are offered tailored support.
Through high expectations, quality first provision and enrichment experiences, our drive and commitment is to develop our pupils' learning at their own level. Our staff demonstrate their awareness of the children in their classes who are eligible for pupil premium and their individual next learning steps are identified and addressed.
Pupil premium is calculated using eligibility for Free School Meals as a guide to the potential extent of deprivation within each school’s catchment area. Schools are required to use the funding to help put in place measures designed to raise attainment. We encourage parents to apply for Free School Meals at this school. All children are equal and those who receive Free School Meals are not identified or viewed as different to their peers. Pupil Premium is allocated to this school specifically to support children on FSM or who belong to Service families. Pupils eligible for Pupil Premium will be given additional support to help overcome any barriers to learning.
At Lovington Primary School we provide high quality education for all of our children regardless of ability or background. We aim for every single one of our Pupil Premium funded children to reach at least the national expectations in all areas. We strive to ensure all our Pupil Premium funded children reach the level at which all non-disadvantaged pupils nationally achieve. We are committed to this ongoing drive and focus and work closely with all our families to achieve this. We also want the attendance of our pupil premium funded children to exceed the attendance of all non-disadvantaged pupils nationally.
We have targeted, the majority of our additional pupil premium funding in these areas:
