    Announcing an Emergency Closure


    In the event of it being necessary to close the school because of severe weather, the procedures detailed below will apply.

    If it is necessary to close the school unexpectedly, prior to opening:

    Information regarding school closure will be:

    • Available on the school website. We will endeavour to update the school website by 7:30am and this should be the first point of information.
    • Sent to you using the ParentMail text messaging service if you are parent of a child attending Lovington Primary School. 
    • Confirmed on Somerset County Council’s site for school closures somerset.gov.uk/school-closures. Schools will be listed in alphabetical order.

    Information about school closure will also be broadcasted by the following stations:

    • BBC- Somerset Sound. 95.5FM and 1556 MHz
    • FM 102.6 FM, 97.1 FM Yeovil area), 96.5FM (Taunton area)
    • Breeze FM. 100.8 FM, 102.4 FM or 107.4 FM
    • Tone FM 107.8 FM (Taunton & surrounding areas)

    In addition, information will be posted onto the class dojo pages. 


    If it is necessary to send the children home during school hours:
    We will notify parents or contacts by telephone and/or text BEFORE allowing anyone to leave the premises.


    Staff will always endeavour to get into school at all times unless conditions prevent them from doing so.
