Welcome to Lovington Church of England Primary School – where the children are placed at the centre of all that we do. We adopt an approach that encourages all children to ‘Be the best that they can be,’ living life to the full, whilst enjoying their learning and providing provision to ensure that all our children reach their full potential.
We are proud of our school and all that happens within. Our curriculum is designed to inspire and provoke curiosity, which motivates and leads children to be inquisitive about the world around them. We want our pupils to experience hands-on learning and in real contexts. We aim to get the best out of every experience and, through our nurturing and respectful ethos, pupils grow and develop into active and interested learners. Our Christian values underpin all aspects of our school day and our aim is that pupils leave Lovington Church of England Primary School as confident, thoughtful and engaging citizens of the future.
We hope you find our website informative, allowing you to get a flavour of all that takes place in our busy and happy school. We warmly encourage visits to the school, and look forward to meeting you, to tell you more about our school that is at the heart of our community.

The education of young children has continued at Lovington since 1715, when a local benefactor, Farmer John Whitehead, bequeathed the rent of 9 acres of pasture land at Foddington, to be used for the schooling of the ‘poor children of Lovington for ever’. Set in a tranquil rural location close to the Somerset village of Lovington, this intimate school setting allows staff to form close relationships with all the children, building an atmosphere which is personal, secure and friendly. The school is co-educational for pupils aged 4 to 11 years and the structure of the classes is flexible each year depending on the number of children in the year group and their individual needs.
